What you need to know before you go on a diet

Why are we getting fatter?

The answer lies on the surface - day after day we create all the most necessary conditions for this. What does our average working day look like? A cup of coffee with a couple of sandwiches, 1.5 hours in traffic jams to the office, 8 hours of seating and a computer, then again 1.5 hours of traffic jams. Snacks than got during the day and a rich high-calorie dinner at night. At the weekend - felting until noon and again the "feast" of the stomach. Rest after all after all ... Well, maybe not quite so, and a couple of times a week we spend an hour or two working hard in the gym. But it is - a drop in the sea.

What are the types of fat?

1.Subcutaneous. This is the surface fat that lies under the skin tissue. This is the kind of fat that is visible visually and which can be touched and felt. First of all, the human body begins to accumulate fat in the most problematic places. In men, this is the abdominal region and chest, in women, the hips, buttocks and hips.As these zones are filled, the fat begins to develop new areas.

2.Visceral. This is a deep fat, which is located around the internal organs of the person (liver, lungs, heart). In a measure, visceral fat is necessary, as it provides a depreciation of the internal organs. But when the subcutaneous fat has mastered all possible zones and the stage of obesity has come, he begins to replenish stocks of visceral fat. Excess visceral fat is very dangerous because it can lead to serious health problems (diseases of the digestive and cardiovascular systems).

Why can't you just stop eating?

The Internet is full of various miracle diets that promise to get rid of extra pounds in a matter of months. Their principle is usually to drastically limit the amount of calories consumed. But try to understand the reciprocal mechanism of the body - the pounds really go, but the fat will remain intact. All this is due to the presence of such a hormone as stucco. The level of its content is correlated with the level of fat content - the more fat, the more stucco. So, the process is as follows:

  • The amount of calories consumed is sharply reduced, the level of glucose and insulin production decreases, fat is mobilized. Good!
  • Glucose is low, which means that the level of stucco falls. The brain receives a signal of hunger.
  • In response to the hunger signal, the body turns on a protective mechanism - the cessation of the synthesis of muscle tissue and the slowing down of fat burning.
  • At the same time, the level of cortisol (stress hormone) increases, which additionally enhances the protective mechanism.

As you can see, weight loss occurs, but not due to the loss of fat, but due to a decrease in muscle mass. At the end of the diet, the body begins to strenuously store calories, putting them into fat (in case the situation repeats).

Weight loss requires a global approach to lifestyle changes, and nothing else.
